An Interview with Jonathon Part II
by Kate Beckinsale
Kate: You have a film and television review blog. What's the deal there?
Jonathon: Well, that's easy really. Ever since I was little, I've loved watching movies and good TV shows. With the advent of the internet, it's become easier to post your thoughts about them. And it's just something I enjoy doing.
Kate: What television shows do you enjoy most?
Jonathon: Oh jeez. That's a long list. Lately, I've been watching New Amsterdam, LOST, House, How I Met Your Mother, The Big Bang Theory, Smallville, Supernatural, CSI (the original), and Battlestar Gallactica. I also really love Survivorman, Deadliest Catch and Ghost Hunters. I also watch a lot of Food TV.
Kate: Wow, Food TV, seriously?
Jonathon: Yeah, Everyday Italian rocks. Thanks to my buddy Dan, I now have a huge crush on Giada De Laurentiis.
Kate: (Laughs.) How did you come to know Matt Martin?
Jonathon: I met Matt in the 6th grade. So I've known him now for whew, um...over twenty years. It's the only year of school that I absolutely loved. That year, Matt drew a picture of the school on the blackboard with a nuclear missle coming down from above. Every day the missle got a little closer. So, on the last day we drew it blowing up everything. It was awesome. (Laughs.) We've been friends ever since.
Kate: Tell me about your family. You have three brothers and one sister?
Jonathon: Yes. Mike, Jason, Justin, and my sister Jennifer. Mike is the oldest. Jason is not far behind him. Justin is a year younger than me, while Jen is 26.
Kate: Wow, one girl with all you guys? That must've been hard.
Jonathon: Nah, Jen's one of the toughest chicks I know. She's a fiercely dedicated person. I'm sure part of that was attributed to growing up with us. It was harder I think, for her boyfriends finding out there was four of us.
Kate: So, do you guys hang out quite a bit?
Jonathon: Not as much as we'd like. My sister lives about an hour away, and my oldest brother Mike lives near Ohio. The rest of us live in roughly the same area. We talk a lot through email and playing Xbox online. We are in midst of trying to plan a vacation back to the UP as well.
Kate: So I take it you're an outdoorsy kind of dude?
Jonathon: Oh yeah. Love it. Especially fishing. My sister and I go fishing a lot in the summer.
Kate: When can we expect to see more art from you?
Jonathon: Very soon. I've started a new series of works based on real people. I've decided to try and draw people who I think are beautiful, or I admire in some way. The first of which, Marilyn Monroe, has been posted in the gallery.
Kate: Very nice. Why Marilyn?
Jonathon: She's the idea of what beauty is. Every female celebrity's ora is derived from her. She was a pioneer. She was to Hollywood what Superman is to comics. She was the mold.
Kate: So, who is going to interview you next?
Jonathon: (Laughs.) I'm not sure. Wait and see!
